Gold Coast Ambassadors secure a $40 million boost for the city
A dedicated and passionate group of influencers known as the Gold Coast Tourism Ambassadors Circle have secured $40 million in conferences, meetings and events for the city since the inception of the program in 2013.
Ambassadors and Champions were recently awarded by Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate in a ceremony that took place at Sea World Conference Centre on Wednesday 23 November.
The Ambassadors and Champions represent Gold Coast Business Events, a division of Gold Coast Tourism.
Gold Coast Tourism’s Director of Business Events Anna Case says Ambassadors are an integral part of achieving increased business events for the city.
“Business events are a major driver for the city’s economic and social capital, with the industry contributing $376 million to the local economy in 2015,” said Anna.
The Ambassadors Circle unites influential leaders from key industries to proactively promote the Gold Coast to the rest of the world through their industry networks.
“Ambassador’s represent a diverse cross section of academic, medical, corporate and not for profit sectors and are typically quiet achievers in their own field or industry,” she said.
Ambassadors represented in this select group include Qscan’s Executive Partner Dr Hal Rice and Dr Laetitia de Villiers, who are both Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiologists for Gold Coast University Hospital, Pindara Private Hospital and Radiologists at Qscan Radiology Clinics.
Both Chaired and Hosted the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN) 13th World Congress Gold Coast Australia in November 2015, becoming Australia’s inaugural host destination of the WFITN Congress. Dr Hal Rice and Dr Laetitia de Villiers were also recently featured Doctors on Channel 7’s new television series ‘Gold Coast Medical’ which aired earlier this month.
Partners of Radiologist owned and operated Qscan Radiology Clinics, it’s an exciting year ahead with further expansion of clinics on the Gold Coast.
“The Ambassadors provide a vital link, working along-side Gold Coast Business Events to lobby and actively bid to attract a future national or international conference to the Gold Coast.”
The Ambassadors Circle also recognises Champions, an award which acknowledges the work of people who act as hosts for national and international conferences.
“Ambassadors volunteer their time and expertise when they step forward to bid for a conference. The events they help to deliver not only contribute to the economy; they also enrich our city with opportunities to host world leaders and industry experts as delegates attending conferences on the Gold Coast.”
Delegates typically spend 3 to 5 days attending a conference and usually spend three times that of a leisure tourist.
Gold Coast Business Events is a division of Gold Coast Tourism Corporation responsible for promoting the Gold Coast as a global business events destination. Its role is to grow business tourism for the Gold Coast by attracting national and international business events.
