International Day of Radiology

Today, November 8, is the International Day of Radiology and Qscan Radiology Clinics would like to help celebrate what a vital role radiology services provide in completing the health care picture of individuals both locally, nationally and internationally. The role of radiology is often an essential element to the detection, diagnosis and management of many diseases and this day is a significant time to simply pause, reflect and acknowledge the incredible work of Radiologists across the world in their dedication to championing this industry, as well as the many innovations in science research currently underway.

This initiative of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), aims to build greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improving understanding of the vital role radiologists play in the healthcare continuum.

On this day November 8, back in 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays. The role of the radiologist is an essential part of the healthcare team in countless medical scenarios, with high educational and professional standards required of all staff working in medical imaging.
