Dr Cara Odenthal

FRANZCR, MPhil, MBBS

Dr Cara Odenthal (FRANZCR, MPhil, MBBS) has been a member of the Qscan team since 2020.

Cara completed a hybrid fellowship in abdominal imaging in 2020 under the mentorship of Dr Stephen Drew, with a particular emphasis on gynaecological and breast MRI.

In addition to abdominal and pelvic imaging, Cara maintains a keen interest in head and neck imaging and breast imaging. Cara is a founding member of the weekly Brisbane North Private Head and Neck Oncology Multidisciplinary Team Meeting. When not working with the Qscan team, Cara also holds an appointment with BreastScreen Queensland and the Wesley Breast Clinic.

Before embarking upon a career in medicine, Cara received undergraduate qualifications to become a radiographer at the Queensland University of Technology. During her undergraduate studies, she was a recipient of the Mitsui Education Foundation Scholarship. She completed postgraduate medical studies at the University of Queensland in 2011, followed by internship and residency at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. In 2012, she was awarded the CMORE House Officer Research Award, and spent 6 months in a full-time research position. Cara has completed a Master of Philosophy, investigating brain volume loss in patients with early multiple sclerosis and radiologically isolated syndromes.
