  • Diagnostic radiology with a focus on CT, MRI and ultrasound imaging of the body, with a particular interest in conditions of the liver and biliary system
  • Interventional radiology across hepatobiliary, vascular, urological and musculoskeletal conditions, including pain intervention, percutaneous biopsy and drainage, and vascular access
  • Interventional oncology, including selective internal radiation therapy (Y-90 SIRT), transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE), and image-guided tumour ablation
About

Associate Professor Sam Davis is an interventional and diagnostic radiologist, and Director of Interventional Radiology at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). He holds an appointment as Associate Professor at the University of Queensland.

A/Prof Davis graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 2006, following a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging. He completed his specialist training and advanced fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.

A recognised leader in interventional oncology, A/Prof Davis established Queensland's first public-sector selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) program at RBWH, giving public patients access to this liver cancer treatment for the first time, and has since helped establish SIRT services at hospitals across Queensland. He is also the founding clinical lead of the RBWH Pulmonary Embolism Response Team, a multidisciplinary service providing rapid, minimally invasive treatment for patients with serious blood clots in the lung.
