What is an x‑ray?
An x-ray is a medical imaging method. It creates images of the body's internal structures and tissues, like bones and organs. X-rays can find bone fractures, dental issues, foreign objects in the body, and different illnesses or injuries.
An ILO chest x-ray is similar to standard x-rays; however they are subject to different reporting requirements. Doctors can use ILO chest x-rays to diagnose and manage a range of lung diseases caused by the inhalation of dust. Pneumoconiosis is a term used to refer to these diseases, which include asbestosis, silicosis, and coal miner’s lung. Changes on a chest x-ray may show exposure to fine particles, such as asbestos or silica, which may cause disease. Qscan Radiology does not bulk billed ILO chest x-rays, please contact us for a quote.
Qscan Radiology Clinics offer a walk-in x-ray service with no appointment needed, just bring a valid referral.
Please note that weekend x-rays may incur a $50 fee.

An OPG (orthopantomogram) is a panoramic x-ray screening of your upper and lower jaw. It is a helpful tool for dentists and orthodontists.
It checks for impacted wisdom teeth and monitors children's tooth development. It is also used for general screening during dental check-ups. OPG x-rays show the number, position, and growth of your teeth and can be useful when assessing teeth that have not surfaced yet.
Lateral cephalogram (Lat Ceph) and posteroanterior cephalogram (PA Ceph) examinations are x-rays of the side of your face, which are used to evaluate facial bones and occlusion. They are particularly useful for planning orthodontic treatment.

The ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses is a powerful tool used worldwide to improve workers’ health surveillance.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) facilitates and standardises regulations for chest images to ensure they meet ILO classification. Qualified NIOSH B readers have completed a complex exam that ensures they have the skills and ability to provide accurate and precise ILO classifications.
